March 2025 General Meeting

President -  Emily Van Vleet 

• Call to Order
• All Board Members present except Laura Townsend

Secretary - Barbara Landberg

•  February Board Meeting Minutes were approved

Vice President - Mary Benin

• .  Todays match was cancelled due to rainy weather.
•     The last home match will be this Friday.
•      Starting next year from November  through April matches will start at 10 am
•    In October, due to the heat, matches will start at 9:30

Treasurer - Bart Ostro

• Current balance is $15,900
• $3,000. has been transferred into capital reserves to have funds available for a future purchase of a new ball machine. Also monthly transfers will go into that fund.

Tournaments - Richard Schulman

• Great Ladder Wildcard
• General consensus of Ladder vs. Original WIldcard formats
• The Upcoming Villages tournament-will be April 19th and $500. was budgeted for refreshments.
• Confirm use of Penn balls

Social - Laura Townsend

• Laura was not present but she will be sending out an updated calendar of social events for the rest of the year.
• If anyone has ideas for social events please contact Laura.
• If we charge an activity fee in advance we could serve liquor at an event that is free
• Membership - Lori Davis

• We currently have 227 members and 40 memberships have lapsed

Facilities - David Hickey

• on Court 6 a supply handle and lock were broken and thanks to Steve Hirsch they were repaired.
• The locking mechanism was changed at the Ball Machine shed.
• Please let Dave know if any plastic boxes for used balls need replacing.
• Every 2 weeks balls are recycled and once a month balls are changed and taken to Sports Basement to be used for playgrounds or the dog park. 
• There is a new tennis shop at 2085 N. Broadway in Walnut Creek called MRIVA SPORTS.

Publicity - Linda Hague

• Please e mail Linda with any suggestions for the Tennis Newsletter.

Old Business/New Business

• Update on ABC license issue for Clubs
• Open Forum- members questions, suggestions, ideas 
• Someone suggested mounting a camera to see if the courts are wet. 
• Dave Kern said people can text him at 8 am since he can see the courts.
