RTC General Meeting
March 20, 2017 --- Meeting Minutes

President - Ron Wyman

  • Previous board meeting minutes approved
  • Open Tennis guidelines --- club president Ron Wyman distributed a handout to attendees outlining the new interpretation of Open Tennis guidelines.   Although there were a lot of questions about who had priority in different situations, the new guidelines were met with a positive reaction.

Vice President - Bernie Wolf

  • GRF has repaired screens and may have to replace a couple later on.   It was pointed out that a couple of screens are still loose on courts 2 and 6.   Ron Wyman will call GRF to take care of it.   Also, court 4's net needs repairs.   The cracks that have appeared on some courts will be evaluated after the soil has dried out. At this time there is no safety issue.

Secretary - Les Hoskyns (presented by Randy Kuhl)

  • Reiteration of RTC's online information security policy was emphasized.   Exceptions are made on case-by-case basis.
  • Members with technical-skills were encouraged to help with RTC's online information resources:  RTC Website, RTC Membership Directory, RTC Calendar, Gmail account, Google Contacts, Google Photos, etc.

Treasurer - Barbara Schwartz

  • Financial Report was made: club is still solvent!

Tournaments - Bob McGowan

  • Wild Card is April 1, 2017 and still needs a couple of more men.
  • Villages at Rossmoor is April 15, 2017 and is hosted by Mike and Eppie Ying, and Fred and Loc Barnes.

Social - Carol Pillsbury

  • Kentucky Derby Party will be a Rossmoor event to encourage non club members to join us.

Membership - Larry Fredricks

  • Club has 206 members with 40 signed to use ball machine.

Facilities - Rolf Kvalvik

  • Members are asked to put sign up sheets in holder where membership applications are, or in the green plastic box in the kiosk to keep the paper dry.    It was suggested that we use a binder for sign up sheets with each page dated--possibly two weeks worth.
  • All tournament, team, ball machine, and instructional court usage is being recorded on signup sheets and retained for future use.    Team captains, tournament coordinators, instructors, and all players can help by providing full signup information, even when most courts are empty.

Publicity - Joan Warner

  • Team captains were thanked for their prompt delivery of articles for the Rossmoor News.

Old Business

  • Continued discussion on ways to encourage and increase RTC membership.
  • Kentucky Derby (see above), club's 50 year celebration (party or year long events not discussed yet), encourage non-members to join Wednesday clinics, mentor those who are new to tennis and articles in the Rossmoor News directed at non-club members --- all were discussed as ways to attract new members.

New Business

  • New members Sheri Lenz and Poppy Tanner were introduced.
