RTC Board Meeting --- December 18, 2017
Meeting Minutes

President - Ron Wyman

• Ron asked for approval of the November General Meeting Minutes.  Minutes approved.
• After the meeting, Ron took a group photo of the 2018 board members who attended the meeting.
• After the meeting, Ron took individual photos of the new board members who attended the meeting.

Vice President - Bernie Wolf

• Bernie provided the Vice President's report
• Bernie provided an update on our Ball Machine Clinic.    Training of volunteers will be Wednesday Dec 20, 2017 led by Sherry Endicott.
• Bernie introduced the new board members (Chris is away)

Secretary - Les Hoskyns

• Les is away

Treasurer - Barbara Schwartz

• Barbara presented a modified December 2017 Budget Report which is easier to prepare and understand

Tournaments - Bob McGowan

• Bob discussed tennis event updates and changes to the 2017 / 2018 calendars
• Mixed Doubles is moved to September 15, 2018  Villages is moved to October 20, 2018
• Chris Slee will be the new Tournament Director on the 2018 RTC board

Social - Carol Pillsbury

• Carol provided a Holiday Party recap:   90 attendees.   Very good food and entertainment.   Rena and Bob Benz did a very good job as organizers and hosts.
• Speculated that the lower attendance could be due to multiple other events within a day of ours
• Suggestions made to have a buffet style dinner next year to save money.
• 2017 Service Awards were presented to Mark and Cheryl Patterson at the Holiday Party on December 18, 2017
• Marcia Perry was given a Special Service Trophy for her 20 years of service to the RTC.  The room went into an uproar of delight when her name was announced.

Membership - Larry Fredricks

• Larry reported on RTC Membership sign ups for 2018.  147 have signed up.    85 2017 member have yet responded.
• Larry has prepared a list of members who need to be reminded to renew their annual RTC membership
• We plan to do an email blast and telephone followup

Facilities - Rolf Kvalvik

• Rolf’s term on the RTC board is over at year end.   Bill Van Wagoner will be the new Facilities Director on the 2018 RTC board.

Publicity - Joan Warner

• Joan resigned from the board at the meeting.   The Publicity Director position will be filled by Dave Blanchard on the 2018 RTC board

Old Business

• Ball Machine Practice Clinics:  Sherry Endicott will oversee the first volunteer training on Wednesday Dec 20, 2017

New Business

• Carol looking into Channel 28 weekly announcements for different social and tennis activities
• Chris, Bernie, Dave B, Larry and Carol are coordinating on online registrations for tennis and social events
• Looking for new contacts for old tennis balls.  Carol will call Nancy for her sources.   Ron has delivered some to John Muir
• Bill Van Wagoner says the Oakland Museum accepts lots of tennis balls.  He / we will check it out.
• Bill says that their is a fairer Canadian handicapping system we could possibly use in tournaments
• Bill Van Wagoner to change lock combination on ball machine shed
