RTC Board Meeting

Meeting Minutes:

 Present: 

• Mark Patterson, Randy Kuhl, Bill Sederowitz, Barbara Schwartz, Barbara Phillips, Rolf Kvalvik, Ron Wyman and Susanne Eldridge

• Mark Patterson called the meeting to order at 1:30 pm at the Ivy Room at Stanley Dollar Clubhouse

RTC Information Technology Committee --- Randy Kuhl / Les Hoskyns

• Les Hoskyns reported that about 500 photos have been scanned and are now on the Google Drive.   Physical filing of hard copies of photos (from albums and binders) is still to be done.  This project is still under budget.
• The website has been working well on desktop and laptop computers, but not yet perfectly on tablets and smartphones.   Les is working on a major update to the website to make it compatible with all devices.
• Joyce Niebur and Les Hoskyns have performed the functions of membership and directory preparation for the last three years.    We need replacement volunteers for these two functions for 2016 and beyond.

Court Engineer/Supplies - Bill Sederowitz

• Dave Sperry has agreed to install new under counter shelves at Buckeye social area once the new material has been decided upon.
• Ball machine rules for Court 2 need to be formalized and published to the membership.

 Tournaments- Rolf Kvalvik

• The Mixed Doubles Tournament went very well with 24 persons participating.
• The Calcutta Tournament was cancelled due to low sign up.
• The Villages Tournament in San Jose went well with a tie, 12 -12 sets each.  The plaque will stay in San Jose for now.
• The Halloween Tournament date is October 31st and Marcia Perry is the director of this fun event.

Wild Card - Barbara Phillips

• The next Wild Card Tournament is on November 7th and this is an on-invitation-only event. The Champions for the year will be determined.

Secretary Report - Susanne Eldridge

• No report.

Treasurer - Barbara Schwartz

• Checking balance as of October 16 is $5,554.46.

Publicity - Ron Wyman

• The Rossmoor News is getting picky on photos submitted with articles.   Photos must have good resolution and no shadows allowed.

Social  - Loc Barnes

• Holiday Party is planned for Saturday December 19th, 2015 and organized by Karen and Jerry Mikuls.

Membership, Directory, and Reservations - Joyce Niebur

• Joyce is leaving the Membership Director position as of Dec. 31, 2015.   Les will not be preparing the 2016 (and beyond) RTC Directories.   We need new volunteers for these two functions.
• The reservations function for social events was discussed.    The Social Director (or those recruited to host each event) are responsible for performing this function.

Maintenance - Jerry McConnell

• Mark Patterson, Jerry McConnell, and Les Hoskyns moved and reassembled the equipment cabinet used by the Wednesday Clinic onto Court 1.
• Jerry is home recuperating from his hospital stay.

Sunshine - Nancy McConnell

• No report.

New Business

• A nominating committee has been established.   Former RTC President Barbara Blum is chairing the committee of John Lee, Dave Kern, Pauline Hanley, and Dick Normington.   The committee will meet in the next one or two weeks.
• Anticipated board vacancies are Publicity, Secretary, and Court Engineer.    Also need to recruit a membership director and a volunteer to prepare the RTC Annual Directory.
• The RTC by-Laws need to be updated.

Next Board Meeting - November 16, 2016 in the Fairway Room at the Creekside Clubhouse.

Meeting was adjourned at 3:00 pm.
