  • Roll Call all present except Terry and Jerry Quinlan and Linda Hague
  • Review/Approve Minutes of June 19th Board Meeting
  • We were happy to welcome Ann Mottola, the Community Services director for GRF.
  • She discussed the resurfacing of the tennis courts and said that the $125,000 set aside for the project is inadequate
  • 3 companies have been contacted and it will cost about $655,000 to do everything.
  • Courts 7 & 8 need structural changes since they are uneven
  • They will use slip sheet membrane before resurfacing 
  • Courts will be guaranteed for 7 years
  • Awnings were also discussed and Larry Barclay suggested that RTC purchase one on Amazon for about $300. and try it
  • We also discussed with Ann Mottola our strong desire to have GRF look at an umbrella website that all clubs could use and have  consistency
  • Barbara had contacted Ann Peterson who is head of the Activities Council and she was told to speak to Kelly Berto at GRF
  • Barbara forwarded Chris Slee's letter about websites to Ann Peterson and left a message for Kelly Berto who was away
  • Chris will meet personally with Ann Mottola about the issue and she seemed open to being cooperative
  • OPEN Forum
  • It was decided to cancel events if the temperature reaches 90 or above
  • We will not have anyone grilling if it is very hot but people are welcome to bring salads and deserts if they still wish to picnic
  • However with Wild Card tournaments, we could start at 8 instead of 9 and that way finish around 10:30

Secretary - Barbara Landberg

  • This was not mentioned at the meeting but Stephen Graham is having surgery on Friday to take out his infected knee replacement  and when the doctors clear up the infection he will need another knee replacement in a couple of months. Barbara will send a card from RTC

  • The next Wild Card will be August 5th starting at 8AM. There will be more food since the budget was increased.

  • Laura passed around a clipboard asking people to sign up to host barbeques and she needs people to sign up to be in charge of the holiday party.

Membership - Terry Quinlan

  • 222 membership as of 7/10/23
  • 73 Ball Machine Users
  • New member Tournament was a great success because of support of RTC Board and several members. We had 20 participants with 3 dropping out but lots of wonderful comments from our newest members feeling very welcome.
  • There were about 7 new members at the meeting and they stood up and introduced themselves.

Information Technology - Chris Slee

  • The Board has approved of Wild Apricot  as our new Web Site. We have paid for the first year.
  • Barbara Burkhalter, Padma Sreenivasan, Richard Shulman, Dave Blanchard have all agreed to help with technology along with Chris Slee. 
  • We would welcome more people with a tech background to assist.

Old Business

  • Update on Tech Committee progress to implement Wild Apricot as the Club's management software.  
  • Possible issues to discuss with Ann Mottola:  1. Installation of awning(s). 2. New net(s).  3.  Resurfacing of courts.

New Business

  • Several members have asked if Ball Machine time can be moved to 8:00 am rather than starting at 9:00 am during the hot summer months.  If not on weekdays, then on weekends, as there are very few players on the courts weekend mornings.
  • Al will check on the Facilities rules but it was felt that neighbors might complain. 

Next Meeting ... August 21st at the Creekside Bunker Room from 1:30 to 3.
