The Rossmoor Women’s 50+A1 team squeaked out a win against the Bay Club Crow Canyon Team on Friday, October 25th. The match was delayed over an hour because of a fatal accident on 680. It took 1.5 hours for two of their players to arrive at Rossmoor, but fortunately Rossmoor came away with a 5-4 win.
Line 1 provided the day's most dramatic tennis, with Rossmoor's Becky Reiss and Terry Quinlan battling through a grueling two-setter plus 10 point tie break against skilled opponents. The home pair ultimately prevailed winning the tiebreak
On Line 2, Yvonne Merrick and Mary Benin faced equally challenging competition against experienced 4.0 players from Bay Club's 50+ A1 team. Despite falling short in a tight 6-4 second set, the Rossmoor duo earned praise for their determined performance against such high-caliber opposition.
Unfortunately, The Crow Canyon team had to default Line 3 .
"The level of tennis today was exceptional," noted team captain Mary Benin. "Both teams showed tremendous sportsmanship, especially considering the difficult circumstances surrounding the match's start."
