LEAGUE PROCEDURES AND RULES

AGE. Players must be age 60 or older. If a player turns 60 on any day during the season, then the player may play on a Men’s Interclub League team during that season. For example, a player turning 60 anytime during the season is eligible to play in the league throughout that entire season.

RATINGS. None required. Age is the sole determiner of eligibility to play. This league is not affiliated with USTA. Wins and losses will not be centrally recorded. Play hard. Have fun.

PLAY. League play begins September and ends in July. Three rounds have been scheduled so that each team will play each opponent three times. Matches will be on alternate Wednesdays with beginning times no earlier than 10:00 and no later than 1:00; however, the earlier, the better so that visiting teams can avoid rush hour traffic. The home captain must contact the visiting captain at least one week prior to the match to set an agreed start time and the number of lines of doubles matches. Please refer to the season schedule, another attachment. Captains may adjust scheduled matches, if needed.

MATCHES. Minimum of 3 doubles matches (though four or more is preferable), all to be played at the same time. Best two of three sets, regular scoring. If the teams split sets, they must play a super tie-breaker, first to 10, winning by 2 points. Play your teams in order of their strength so it’s fun for everyone.

Rain Makeups. If feasible, it is suggested that rain make-ups be played on the Wednesday following the rainouts. However, if both captains agree to a different day and time for the makeup match, or for any other scheduled match, this will be acceptable.

Home Team provides new balls, beverage and snacks. Please be sure to accommodate non-drinkers. Snacks such as chips and power bars are encouraged.

This league was formed to make tennis an enjoyable game for all of us. Let’s have fun and enjoy the camaraderie.

If you are unable to complete a match on the scheduled date or the makeup date (continuous rainouts), captains may mutually agree to cancel the match altogether.
