Old Business

  • Barbara  proposed a way that we can take stronger action against the Pickleball situation. She drafted a letter and thinks we should each contact 5-10 tennis players whom we know personally and ask them each to write a letter to the GRF board. We have been frustrated that they do not seem to be listening to our concerns. She feels that if we bombard them with about 50 letters they will have to take us more seriously.  It was also agreed that an e mail blast could be sent to all members.

.   CPBTC Report - Dave Blanchard, Chair

At the 18 April  2022 tennis club board meeting the board voted to create and distribute flyers to all of the manors surrounding the Buckeye tennis courts advising owners to be attentive to the upcoming Sound Study to be performed at the courts and to realize that a minimal study result could allow pickleball to take place at the tennis courts in the future thus affecting their manors.
A draft flyer was reviewed at the meeting and more than 400 copies were printed and hand delivered to surrounding Manors. The printing was done by Becky Reiss using the club’s Laser printer.
The Sound Study took place on April 28th conducted by the contractor Acoustics Group Inc. We are awaiting the results.
Meanwhile club members have continued to present our concerns at the GRF board meeting, and with letters to CEO Tim O’Keefe and to the Rossmoor News. Of particular note was Ken Anderson’s presentation at the last board meeting in which he directly stated that one of the pickleball players on the board was a key conspirator for taking the tennis courts. He was rebuked by the board president but countered that his contentions were not deniable.
Members of the club have been considering approaches that might air illegalities on the part of board members not recusing themselves from self-interested board actions.
We have also discussed the issue that not all possible alternative locations have received fair and equal evaluation. We plan to request access to studies that have been done.
We plan to continue sending articles to the Rossmoor News decrying the proposed pickleball takeover.

.   Draft Letter to Tim O'Keefe

It is on hold until some results are in on the new proposal being presented this month to GRF for a pickleball venue next to the Event Center.

2. 2022 Diversity Festival. RTC not compatible with the theme of the festival, thus no need to participate on a club level.

New Business

Larry suggested additional weekly, or monthly drop in events for 3,0, 3.5, and 4.0 women, men, and mixed doubles

Apparently Dwight Walker sent out an alternative proposal of putting 6 Pickleball courts under solar shades next to The Event Center. However this would entail taking down 2 Redwoods.

  • 2022 Diversity Festival --RTC not compatible with the theme of the festival, thus no need to participate on a club level. Next RTC Board Meeting ... will be June 20th. The meeting was adjourned around 3 PM.
