President - Emily VanVleet

Emily called the meeting to order at 1:34 p.m. Those present were Mary Benin, Ken Steiner, Richard Schulman, Laura Townsend, Terry Quinlan, David Hickey, and Linda Hague Absent: Barbara Landberg. Linda Hague to submit minutes.

The July 2024 minutes were approved.

Vice President - Mary Benin.

One Rossmoor Tennis Hat was sold.

Treasurer - Ken Steiner

Total Income YTD: $11,467.50 vs $15,600 budgeted Total Expenses YTD : $7,911.85 vs $16,550 budgeted Net Income: $3,555.65. Current bank account balance: $12,516.73 It is anticipated the club’s year-end balance will be approximately $7,000.

Tournaments - Richard Schulman

The August 10 Wild Card was very successful. New participants were awarded $5 gift cards at a new restaurant nearby. There was discussion about reducing the tournament from 7 rounds of 4 games to 6 rounds. The next Wild Card tournament will try out the reduced schedule. It was decided to post a notice in the kiosk alerting all tennis players that the Wild Card tournaments are open to all in Rossmoor.

Social - Laura Townsend

Laura discussed the disarray of supplies in one of the tennis sheds, and it was decided to place a sign up requesting that supplies be returned to the appropriate shed in an orderly fashion. Planning for the New Members Party on October 17th was discussed as well as the need for volunteers to help at the Christmas party.

Membership - Terry Quinlan

Terry reported that there are currently a total of 214 members; 6 new members during July; 17 new members YTD; and 4 new Ball Machine members.

Facilities - David Hickey

Court Usage: 2,640 in July A motion was made and passed to purchase sun shades for courts 4 and 6 at a cost of approximately $800 each. GRF will install.

Publicity - Linda Hague

It was decided to include a notice in future Newsletters of the times courts will be blocked for league play by the men’s and women’s home team matches.

Old Business:

Courts 1 - 6 have been resurfaced. Emily attended a GRF meeting and requested that resurfacing of courts 7 and 8 be included in the 2025 budget.

Additional chairs for the courts have been ordered.

Al Peters, Larry Barclay, Yvonne Merrick and Rena Benz will comprise the Nominating Committee.

New Business:

Mary and Terry volunteered to review and update the duties and responsibilities of the Board positions. There was discussion regarding the policies of advising The Gate of visiting players
